Frank Barajas’s Curious Unions: Mexican American Workers and Resistance in Oxnard, California, 1898-1961 can be added to a concise list of other vital books (Tomas Almaguer’s Racial Fault Lines and Martha Menchaca’s The Mexican Outsiders) dealing with the history of Chicana/os in Ventura County! Also, my own work on Mexican workers on the Oxnard Plain is influenced by Almaguer, Menchaca, and Barajas.
