Young Research Library.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In my process of researching the history of <em>Mexicans<\/em> in Ventura County, I have collected thousands of news clippings. The majority of the clippings focus on the themes of\u00a0labor, migration, and activism, which I&#8217;m writing on.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s common for my colleagues to contact me to see if I have anything on a selected topic; they or their students are working on. Months ago, my friend contacted me to see if I had anything on <em>pachuca\/os<\/em> in Oxnard. One of his students was writing a research paper on the subject and was having a hard time finding any primary sources.<\/p>\n<p>So, I looked through my news-clipping database, and I found that I have collected a lot of\u00a0information on <em>pachuca\/os\u00a0<\/em>between 1942 and 1944.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u2022\u2022\u2022\u2022<\/p>\n<p>During this time period, politicians, educators, and law enforcement waged war against\u00a0<em>juvenile delinquency, <\/em>which targeted\u00a0Mexican youth.\u00a0As noted by historian Eduardo Obreg\u00f3n Pag\u00e1n, the public would &#8220;debate whether Mexican citizens and their American-born children were culturally, politically, intellectually, and biologically capable of living with a white, civilized, democratic society.\u201d<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Like, <em>Los Angeles Times<\/em> and other newspapers during this period, the <em>Oxnard Press-Courier <\/em>was<em>\u00a0<\/em>utilized by local officials to\u00a0criminalize \u00a0<em>pachuca\/os<\/em> in Oxnard and Ventura County!<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 280px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a
