Chiques History Notes is a series of posts based on my research on Oxnard, CA.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

“Ms. Murguia Wong (still living) was a long-time Ventura County resident who advocated on behalf of school children as an Oxnard resident in the late 1960s and ’70s. She served on many appointed local and county committees and boards and was elected to the Oxnard School District’s board of trustees in 1971. Trustee Murguia Wong spearheaded the district’s compliance with the federally court ordered desegregation of Oxnard’s K-8 schools. She is an unsung hero of Ventura County.”<\/p>\n
